31st July
Heading towards the Camargue, but getting there, it stinks, so we kept moving. Saw a few flamingoes and horses though.
After a lovely swim in the river we decided to stop at another passion in Murviel Les Beziers. Chateau de Coujan is the site of a 2000 year old Roman Villa. There are still mosaic floors in the main house.
Tasted some wines, (like you do!) in a magnificent cellar. Both walls lined with gigantic wooden barrels. The peace was only broken by the Peacocks. I didn’t realise they could get so high up in the trees to roost!
1st August
Drove down to the coast via Bezier (strange town, one way system which spits you out in the same place you went in.) Carried on to Sete and wild camped on the edge of the causeway. Burnt and swam the day away! Felt like a pair of surfers waking up to the surf pounding (Well rippling!!) by the van!
2nd August
Off into the Camargue. And what a stink!!! Hot day, salt pans drying! I’ll leave it to your imagination. So we headed north again. Snapped a few flamingo’s on the way. Only saw 2 white horses, shame!
Ended up on a fruit farm at Pont Saint Esprit. Cycled for a bit, but too hot.
3rd August
Woke up to more heat. Went to a site by the farm, all of 100m, and chilled in what shade we could find.
Kev went off cycling in the evening, (whilst I loafed about). Came back at about
4th August
Set off for the Ardeche Gorge. Like a mini
5th August
Well not a good start to week 6. The garage is really busy (and there seems to be only 1 in a 30k area). So we leave it with him and take off for the day on our bikes to Pont D`Arc to have a swim.
Well the swim was lovely and the Arch was spectacular.
The return trip was ok till Lisa fell off her bike!! Dislocated elbow, and the overnight hospital stay was a bit traumatic, as there is no way to visit. Elvis is not well either. New head gasket required. Could take up to a week.
